How do I create a trip?

How do I Invite Friends?

Open your trip and use the invite option to send travelers a link or invite code located in the Overview tab of the trip workspace. They can join by tapping the link or entering the code in the app.

Do I need to pay before creating a trip?

Yes. A one-time trip fee is required to create a trip. This unlocks your trip workspace where you can invite travelers, track expenses, and manage everything in one place.

I didn’t receive my invite. What should I do?

Ask the organizer to resend the invite or share the invite code with you. You can join manually using the code from the home screen.

Expenses and Money Questions

How are expenses split?

Expenses can be split evenly across all travelers or assigned specific amounts per person. The organizer can adjust this as needed.

Does SplitTrip send or hold money?

No. SplitTrip does not handle payments. It helps you track who owes what so your group can settle up using apps like Venmo, Zelle, or cash.

How do I track who paid?

You can log contributions in the app to track who has paid and how much. This helps keep everything transparent for the group.

What happens if someone doesn’t pay?

SplitTrip will show outstanding balances so everyone can see what is still owed. Payment itself is handled outside the app.

My trip is not loading. What should I do?

Try closing and reopening the app or signing out and back in. If the issue continues, contact support and include your trip name.

Can I edit a trip after creating it?

Yes. You can update trip details, add expenses, and manage travelers at any time within the trip workspace.

Can I remove someone from a trip?

Yes. The organizer can remove travelers from the trip if needed.

Is my data secure?

Yes. We take data security seriously and use trusted, industry-standard providers to protect your information.
We only collect the information needed to create and verify your account, along with limited diagnostic data to help us identify issues, fix bugs, and improve the app experience.

To operate SplitTrip, we work with a small number of trusted third-party services:

  • Amazon Web Services — secure cloud infrastructure and backend hosting
  • Supabase — database and core app services
  • PostHog — product analytics to improve features and usability
  • Sentry — error tracking and bug detection
  • Stream — in-app chat and messaging services

These providers help us operate and improve the app. We do not sell your data to third parties.

How do I delete my data?

You’re always in control of your data.

You can delete your account in two ways:

  1. In the app: Head to your profile and tap “Delete Account.” We’ll ask you to confirm since this action can’t be undone.
  2. Reach out to us: Email support@splittriptravel.com, and we’ll handle the deletion for you.

Once deleted, your data is permanently removed from our systems.
